Today I’m going to tell you one of this stories that make Spain the country that it is: the cradle of the absurd
(remember these lovely surrealism artists like Dalí and Buñuel. Surrealism is very present in Spain).
In 2010, in the village of Vicálvaro in Madrid, there was discovered an enormous visigothic necropolis when stirring soil to construct a urban project of 15 000 houses. The government wanted then, to investigate the tombs. They found 824 tombs, in perfect state, with their grave goods. So, with a very interesting and almost obscene point of view they decided to excavate all the tombs, study them and after that, destroy them to finally construct above the project of 15 000 houses.
Let me explain you why this is so wrong in so many levels.
- The urban project was created in 2004 when Spain was immerse in the foolish years of the Construction fever. Almost 10 years later we are destroyed by these stupid ideas and our stupid, egoistical, bastards politicians whose thought that the best for the country was construct houses without ANY limit, creating a giant bubble of speculation. And now in 2013 they STILL think that It’s a good point to destroy this necropolis and building another 15 000 empty houses even If It’s not sure they could sold them.
- Visigothic rests are not very usual. They are very rare and It’s always great to found those kind of necropolis because they can make us understand better this part of the spanish history. Visigoths were a warrior folk from the south of actual Sweden. They came to Spain when roman empire was about to fall and they conquered the country. They adopted the christian faith (arrianism, in this case) and after that, they became catholics. They also did some advances in the creation of a spanish state.
Luckily there’s some people that want to stop the nonsense.
If you are interested in this or you want to contribute to stop this cowshit I let you this link.
